NEW DG FOR DOORDARSHAN

Tripurari Sharan is the new Director General of Doordarshan. He takes over from Leeladhar Mandloi, who has been the Acting DG of the government broadcaster for several months.
Sharan is a 1985 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre. He has earlier been Secretary, Additional Secretary Level in Consumer Affairs, Food & PD Food & Civil Supplies and Managing Director, Bihar State Finance Corporation.
Sharan is also former Director of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. During his tenure as Director, Sharan had also made a film titled ‘Woh Subah Kidhar Nikal Gayi?’, which was produced by FTII.
Born on June 30, 1961, Sharan began his tenure in the Indian Administrative Services as Assistant Collector and ADM with the Land Revenue Management and District Administration in 1987.

EXTRACT OF THE MINUTES OF THE 5 th MEETING OF THE GOM HELD ON 23-6-2011

Agenda no: 2 Report of the committee of joint-secretaries:
   The GOM considered the report of the committee of the joint secretaries costituated to look in to the issues pertaining to the grant of upgraded pay scales in respect of the cadres of prasar bharati which are exclusive to prasar bharati and the ministry of information & broadcasting.
       A presentation was made to the Group of Ministers highlighting the main issues considered by the COJS and the recommendations made by it. The Gom took cognizance of the observations and recommendations made by the COJS in its draft Report.However , it was observed that the views of the concerned employee associations in prasar bharati on the recommendations had not been obtained by the committee.keeping in view the effect of the implementation of the recommendations contained in the report on the employees concerned ,the GOM directed that the views of all concerned employee associations may be ascertained and recommendations of the COJS thereon may be placed before the GOM for taking a final view in the matter.The GOM directed that the exercise may be completed within three months.
